Exploring the Stage Within

Mental health concerns everyone. Stigma is what keeps it private. This year, across seven countries, we are opening the rehearsal room door, and you are invited in.

Come watch, take part, talk back, take the stage

You can do as much or as little of that as you like. Some people come for a show and go home. Some stay for the conversation afterwards. Some come back in the spring and end up on stage. All of those are the right amount.

Why a theatre?

Because reducing stigma is what happens when audiences and performers share the same room. Not a room where anyone is on display. A room where everyone bought a ticket, sat down together, and watched the same thing happen.

Theatre gives back three things mental illness can take away: a voice, a body, an audience. When someone stands on a stage and is listened to for ninety minutes, something shifts for them. Something shifts for the people watching, too.

Stay for the conversation

Every campaign performance is followed by a twenty-minute conversation with the company. You can ask anything. You can also just listen — most people do.

If any of this is close to home
